Cliff Manor Update
The June 21 community town hall meeting held at Methodist Hospital’s Hitt Auditorium was both crowded and heated. A standing-room-only crowd of more than 500 citizens voiced concerns about the secretive tactics used by the Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) and the Metro Dallas Housing Authority (MDHA). A verbal presentation was provided by the agencies, but no written material was provided.
Dave Newman, District 3 City Council Representative, along with Mayor Tom Leppert, coordinated the effort. Mr. Newman has been keeping area residents updated via his newsletter. Among the latest news is:
· The project’s status is “on hold”
· Formation of a task force of area leaders, the DHA, and MDHA is underway
· Questions asked at the meeting that remained unanswered will be addressed
· Zoning issues will be investigated
