Oaxaca Interests is proceeding with its plans to develop the block along Sylvan Avenue between I30 and Fort Worth Avenue. Demolition of the properties began on Tuesday, Dec. 14th at 4 pm. The first property to be demolished was the county maintenance facility at the intersection of Sylvan and Fort Worth Avenue. Oaxaca plans to salvage and restore the Alamo sign for future use.
Negotiations continue between the City and Oaxaca for the best entrance/egress patterns into the planned mixed-use development. Once these hurdles are overcome, the City has the funding set aside and is ready to start the reconstruction of Sylvan Avenue per the spring 2009 charrette recommendations.
